Lady Skins Gash Guymon
02/10/2010

Guymon packed in a 2-3 zone with plans to make an athletic Liberal team beat them from the outside. Liberal did just that in a 59-40 win Tuesday night in the 'Big House.' Kayla Payton hit three first half three pointers and Kayla Varnes added two three pointers in the first half as Liberal built a 37-17 halftime lead. That opened the lane for Justice Norah who scored a career high 26 points. Payton added 13 points and Varnes dropped in 10. Head coach Shane Stout says that's as well as the Lady Redskins (10-5) have played all season. Varnes says LHS is heading the right direction, winning two straight after a three game losing skid. "I think we've improved a lot and I think our practicing is getting a lot better," the senior Varnes said. "It feels good to beat Guymon and Great Bend." Guymon falls to 12-8 overall. Liberal hosts Hays for homecoming Friday night at 6 PM on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
