Liberal Looks for More Disciplined Girls Soccer Attack
03/19/2013

Kristen Dolen

She has seen enough.  LHS first year girls soccer coach Kristen Dolen has seen enough in two years as an assistant to feel she knows what the perennial WAC cellar dwelling program needs.  She says they need discipline.  The coach has instilled a new offensive and even enforced tryouts for the team which now has 32 members in the program.

Last year was a mess as Liberal went 2-14-1 in a season which saw their head coach quit during the season only to have boys coach Lori Navarro coach a team she actually officiated during the season.

Liberal's led by senior center midfielder Joanna Campos who was all WAC last year.  Seniors Vivana Ortiz and JoJo Rios anchor the defense.  Dolen expects newcomers freshman forward Carolina Limon and transfer from North Dakota Crystal Vela at center midfield to help immediately.

Liberal opens their season with a 5:30 game against Guymon at the Cornelsen Sports Complex.  Click on the audio icon to hear Dolen's interview.
