03/18/2013

Starting five freshmen in their opening day lineup, it was a fresh new start for the Liberal baseball team Saturday against Woodward.  The Boomers capitalized on three Redskins errors and beat LHS 7-4 Saturday at the Liberal Baseball Complex.

The Boomers (2-4) built a 6-0 lead by scoring one in the first, three in the third, and two in the fourth.  Liberal plated two in the fourth and two in the fifth to make it 6-4.

Woodward out-hit the Redskins 8-6.  Jared Hasik was 2-4 in his first game while Brandyn Terrazas was 1-4 with a double and Collin Ware and Tim Fitzgerald were 1-2 and 1-4 respectively and scored runs.

Collin War pitched two and one-third innings while Christian Hernandez went two and two-thirds and Hasik pitched two innings allowing one run.

Liberal hosts Hugoton Tuesday at 4 p.m. for a double header.
