2011 LHS Graduation to be Held at Redskin Field Pending Calendar Vote

Liberal High School Principal Keith Adams has submitted a letter to Superintendent Vernon Welch proposing that the 2011 LHS Graduation be held at Redskin Field.

"After visiting with the elected officers for 2011, and collecting information from various other sources, I hereby submit a formal proposal to have commencement ceremonies at Redskin Field beginning with the current junior class (Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:30 A.M.) and continuing annually hereafter," Adams said.

Back on January 4, the board of education voted 4-3 to keep the 2010 graduation ceremonies in the gym on a Sunday per Mr. Adams recommendation.

It is expected that the board will approve the move to Saturday for 2011 when they vote on the calendar since the board is in charge of setting the calendar as no one from the board objected to Adam's letter when it was presented to the board by Welch at Monday night's regularly scheduled meeting.

Adams added in his letter that there will be a backup plan if weather were to permit the ceremony to be moved indoors.
