Dodge Dominates Liberal
02/03/2010

Teams lose games. It's a part of life for any athlete and with it comes gobs of teachable moments for high school coaches. But when a team doesn't give the effort a coach thinks they can give, that results in a frustrating night. Dodge City handled Liberal in the second half in winning 58-40 at the "Big House" Tuesday night. in a game which resulted in Liberal's head coach questioning the team's effort. The Red Demons trailed by three late in the first half before a 23-6 Red Demon run put the Redskins away. Liberal head coach Drew Gruver says his team's effort wasn't good enough. "We've got to compete," Gruver said. "We can't get out-hustled and can't get out worked. Dodge came out and played harder than we did and that's my fault." Jade Cathey led Liberal with 13 but didn't play much in the fourth quarter of the loss. Kowan Russell added 12 points. The 6th ranked Red Demons are 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the WAC. Terrance Williams led them with 16. The Redskins fall to 8-5 overall and 0-3 in the WAC. The 7th ranked Redskins host number nine Great Bend Friday night at about 7:45 on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
