Liberal's home court winning streak drips with irony. Two years ago, Dodge City beat Liberal 53-32 on January 29, 2008. Liberal began what would turn into a two year home court winning streak with an upset win over Great Bend. Tuesday, 10th ranked Dodge City snapped Liberal's 19 game home court winning streak with a 51-34 win over Liberal. The Lady Skins next opponent is none other than Great Bend. Upset minded Liberal jumped to a 9-4 lead after one quarter only to see the Lady Demons (10-3, 3-0) lead 19-14 at halftime. Liberal cut the lead to eight at the end of three quarters (31-23). Liberal tried to press in the fourth quarter to break through but LHS head coach Shane Stout says that didn't work. "We're down six or eight with five minutes to go and it's like we could sit here and lose this game by six or eight or we could try to cause some full court havoc," Stout said. "Obviously they picked us apart when we tried to do that." Stout said his scouting report indicated pressing Dodge City guard Valerie Ortiz and Brenna Briggs might not be a good idea, but his team needed anything but the statis quo to get over the hump. Liberal is 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the WAC. The Lady Skins host Great Bend Friday at 6 PM on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. The Lady Skins will be featured during the Rowdy Crowd Show Thursday night at 5:30 PM on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
