Heights Needs no Mulligan
03/25/2009

This Southwestern Heights girls basketball team doesn't need a mulligan. There is no need to look back and the agonizing 'what ifs' of March after the Lady Mustangs won the 2009 3-a state title. They didn't need a second chance. Instead they tore through a tough stretch of Goodland, Norton, Thomas Moore Prep, Hillsboro, Cherryvale, and Wichita Collegiate to win the school's third state title. It's ironic that the team that didn't need a muligan will celebrate their state title with their fans on a golf course Sunday evening. The state championship celebration will be at Joyce Hamm Golf Course in Plains at 6 pm. The championship game will be viewed on a big screen. There will be a hamburger feed. Game tapes with the play-by-play of KLDG's Tracy Utz and Reid Petty will be on sale with proceeds going to the Sigala family.
