Greensburg Hospital To Re-Open
01/22/2010

Greensburg will soon celebrate another

big step in its recovery from the devastating tornado in May 2007.

The new Kiowa County Memorial Hospital is scheduled to reopen in

the next few weeks, replacing a 1950s-era hospital that was

destroyed in the tornado.

Hospital officials say the hospital will be smaller, but it will

offer all the same services, except for a behavioral health

department that moved to Kinsley.

And it will have some new services, such as an employee day-care

center and space for a third-party retail pharmacy.

And like most of the other buildings in the new Greensburg, the

hospital has been built to the highest-rated certification for

energy efficiency.
