USD 480 Adds Six Courses to LHS Curriculum

The USD 480 Board of Education agreed to the addition of three AP Honors courses and three other courses to the curriculum at Liberal High School with one of them also including the middle schools during Monday's meeting. The curriculum council along with the Director of Curriculum Lana Evans recommended the addition to these courses. The courses added include Applied English I, AP English Language & Composition, AP European History, AP Environmental Science, Metals III, and Intensive Reading (Middle and High School).

The board also approved the consent agenda which includes second semester food service bids, mileage rate, waiver of building rental fee, and three overnight trips.

Other action items approved was the Hutton Construction Payment for the high school classroom addition, resignation of a certified teacher, retirement of Vernon Welch as Superintendent effective May 28, 2010, and classified employment/resignations/transfers.

The board will next meet on February 4 for a special board meeting. The meeting will only be informational. The next regularly scheduled meeting will take place on Monday, February 8.
