Lady Saint Freshmen Lead them Past Colby
01/19/2010

Seward head coach Toby Wynn sure is glad he signed Haven's Morgan Skomal and Sublette's Sumr Robinett. Wynn says his team would not have won with the two freshmen in Seward's 70-46 win at the Colby Community Building Monday night. Robinett scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Skomal added 10 points and six rebounds for the 15th ranked Lady Saints who struggled Monday. Seward led 33-23 at halftime but led 36-31 3:30 into the second half. Rachel Barnes scored 22 points in the Lady Saints' seventh straight win over Colby (2-17, 0-5) and fourth straight at Colby. After trailing at the half at Colby last year, Wynn says he expected better. "That was the disappointing part for us," Wynn said. "We talked about it Sunday in practice and Monday in the shootaround. We talked about last year coming up here and what happened to us and we weren't mentally prepared. Then to come out tonight and play the same way is disappointing to me. At the same time I want to give credit to Colby." Wynn said Colby's zone which packed it in the paint and made SCCC answer from the outside was effective. The 18-1 Lady Saints are 5-0 in the Jayhawk West goes to Dodge City Sunday at 2 PM on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
