Lady Saints Rout Cloud Handing Them First Loss of Season

In what was anticipated to be one of the biggest games of the regular season the No. 15 Seward County Lady Saints had no problems with No. 11 Cloud County routing the Lady T-birds 76-53 Saturday at the Green House. The loss was Cloud's first of the season.

Seward jumped out early and led the game at halftime 43-30. The Lady Saints owned the second half as well outscoring the Lady Thunderbirds 33-23.

The Lady Saints were led by Rachel Barnes who scored 22 in the win. Seward had three other players who scored in double digits along with Barnes. Vaneza Junior was next in line as she scored 18. Nadia Rosario added 14, while Megan Lassley had 10.

Seward held Cloud to just 27% shooting from the floor and created 27 turnovers.

Lady Saints head coach Toby Wynn said he was very pleased with his team's effort and that they wanted to play well for the big crowd who showed up and did just that.

Cloud drops to 17-1 overall, and 3-1 in the Jayhawk West. The Lady Saints improve to 17-1 overall, and 4-0 in the league.

Seward will travel to Colby on Monday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. The game will air on B107 FM and kscb.net.
