The City Clerk's office announces that Ivanhoe Love, Jr., 1036 North Pershing, filed for City Commission on Friday morning, January 18, 2013, and Julio M. Jimenez, 2041 Windsor Lane, filed for City Commission on Friday afternoon, January 18, 2013 . They are the seventh and eighth candidates to file for the four (4) vacant City Commission positions, joining Dave Harrison and John Blackmore who filed in December, Candace Koehn who filed last week, as well as Joe Denoyer, Tim Long and Dale Harrold who filed on Monday. The deadline to file for City Commission is noon on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. City Offices are closed on Monday, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The positions currently held by Joe Denoyer, Dave Harrison, Larry Koochel and Tim Long will be vacant in April. Denoyer and Long will have served 4-year terms, while Harrison and Koochel will have served 2-year terms. At the April 2, 2013 general election, the top two (2) successful candidates will receive 4-year terms and the third and fourth successful candidates will receive 2-year terms. Those interested in filing for City Commission need to complete a Candidates Declaration of Intention form and pay the $45.00 filing fee with the City Clerks office by noon on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. The office is located at City Hall, 324 North Kansas, is open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
