Halftime Talk Spurs Lady Saints to Strong Second Half

There was little doubt Seward was going to win the game leading 42-26 at halftime at Pratt Wednesday night. But SCCC head coach Toby Wynn knew his team was capable of better play. He was right. The 15th ranked Lady Saints out scored Pratt (2-15,1-2) 51-19 in the second half in route to a 93-45 win at Pratt. Wynn says he wanted his team to play their game. "It was just mainly about playing with passion and energy and playing the way we've played all season long," Wynn said of his halftime speech. "Playing our style of basketball and not trying to adapt and play to the level of your opponent. For us, it's about trying to be who we are." Three Lady Saints scored career highs led by Vaneza Junior's 21 points and six steals. Sheila Washington added 17 points while Sumr Robinett tied her career high with nine. Rachel Barnes added 13 points and 10 rebounds while Megan Lassley scored 12. Wynn says that was a strong second half. "We came out in the second half and played one of our better halves of basketball all season long," Wynn said. "I thought we defended well. We got the ball inside. We drove to the basket and got easy opportunities. I was very proud of our effort in the second half." Wynn is now 128-25 as Seward's head coach and has never lost to Pratt. The Lady Saints are 3-0 in the Jayhawk West and 16-1 overall. They host 11th ranked Cloud Saturday night at 6 PM on B107.5 and The Lady Saints will be featured during the Green Line Thursday night at 6 PM on Talkradio 1270 and live from Billy's.
