Skins Finish Fourth in Southwest Classic

Adrian Salas wrestles during the semifinals Saturday in the Southwest Classic.

After one first place finish, two seconds, two thirds, and one fourth the Liberal wrestling team placed fourth at the Southwest Classic in the 'Big House' Saturday. Sophomore Justin McPhail won the 189 pound division while seniors Adrian Salas and Carlos Rodriguez both placed second at 119 and 160 pounds respectively. Sophomore Isaac Gallegos and senior Akili Powdrill both placed third at 140 pounds and the heavyweight division respectively. Adebayou Braimah placed fourth at 135 for the Redskins. Colby won the Southwest Classic with 189 points while Pratt scored 128; Goodland 125.5; Liberal 116; Ulysses 114; Hays 104; Amarillo Tascosa 93; Hugoton 81; Putnam City West 51; Holcomb 39; and Elkhart 29. For Hugoton, Derek Schnittker won the 140 pound weight division while teammates Patrick Weaver at 135 takes second, Tyler McBride at 125 places third, and Colton Lissolo of Hugoton places fourth. For Ulysses, Robbie Hines at 119 and Josh Rodriguez at 152 both take first while Razzy Morales at 130 takes second, and Tanner Perez at 145 takes fourth. Elkhart's Seth Iman places third at 135. Liberal hosts Ulysses for a wrestling dual Tuesday night with the J.V. starting at 6 PM.
