Saints and Lady Saints Face Tough Draw in Coffeyville
01/08/2010

Neither Seward County coach wanted to see officials move the Jayhawk Shootout from December to January. Instead of a conference game Wednesday, January 6 and a conference game Saturday night, the KJCCC teams clash this weekend rather than the first weekend of December. The 13-1 #12 Lady Saints play a 9-4 Cowley team who has won six straight and leads the Jayhawk East at 3-1. The game tips off at 11 AM on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. The 10-3 Saints face 9-5 Cowley at 1 PM on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net in a rematch of last year's Region 6 quarterfinal game. The Tigers are 3-1 under former Independence coach Tommy Desalme who replaces Steve Eck. Last March, the Tigers out lasted the Saints 72-70 in overtime in Wichita. The Saints will play their first game since December 12 so head coach Bryan Zollinger says his guys will be ready. "I'm sure their ready to play again in their minds," Zollinger said. "Physically we've got a ways to go because that was an awful long break. We went three weeks without a game and over two weeks without practicing so our conditioning level isn't great right now." The Saints face Coffeyville Saturday with the women's game at 5 PM and the men's game at 7 PM on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. The Coffeyville women are 10-2 overall and 1-1 in the Jayhawk East while the Red Raven men are 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the east. Here's the Jayhawk Shootout schedule.
