The Seward County Board of County Commissioners met Monday night at 6:30 in the Seward County Administration Building for their final meeting of 2009. At Monday nights meeting the commission approved a waiver of Event Center fees for "That Liberal Band's" annual fish fry. The Seward County Commissioners also appointed Saron Keating and Joseph Baier to the Council On Aging, James Bond and Pierre Lamont to the Planning and Zoning, and approved all 5 applicants to the Rural Fire Board. The Proposal for drainage at the fairgrounds was also approved as was the purchase of a compactor for National Beef/Seward County Landfill. The commission also awarded the bid for the remodel at the Seward County Health Department to Cox Construction in the amount of $19,949.00. County Commissioners also approved rate changes at the Seward County Landfill. Municipal Solid Waste went from $27.00/ton to $30.00/ton. This however will not affect the rate the city pays. Construction and demolition and wood and trees also went from $27.00/ton to $30.00/ton. Concrete dumping went from $6.50/ton to $7.50 and the mininmum load charge went from $9.00 to $11.00. Due to the Martin Luther King Jr holiday in January, the next County Commission meeting has been moved to Tuesday January 19, 2010.
