Blizzard Watch Issued For Parts Of Kansas
12/21/2009

A blizzard watch has been issued for Southwest and Central Kansas, including the Wichita area. Other cities in the watch area include Hutchinson, Salina, Great Bend and Wellington.

Snow and gusty winds could make travel treacherous Wednesday & Thursday. Drivers could experience whiteout conditions.

ss: blake.smith@kake.comWichita could receive freezing drizzle by Tuesday night. That drizzle will transition to snow by late Wednesday night and all snow for Thursday. The exact snowfall accumulation will be determined by when the rain changes to snow. It's looking more likely that Wichita will receive a few inches of snow with gusty winds, as well.

From Salina to Garden City, we could receive freezing drizzle by Tuesday night. That drizzle could transition to snow by Wednesday morning and all snow through Thursday. Some snowfall accumulation looks increasingly likely.

In Goodland, this storm will bring mostly snow starting Tuesday night. It should move out by Thursday morning.

While there is still some uncertainty as to exact amounts, this storm could have a major impact on travel conditions. Stay with KAKE for the latest as this storm approaches and we get a clearer picture of what will happen.
