Liberal Fire Department To Hold An "In-Service" Ceremony
12/08/2009

The Liberal Fire Department will be conducting a traditional "Wet Down" ceremony to celebrate the placement of "Engine #17" in service. All members of the community are invited to attend this event. The ceremony will take place Monday December 14, 2009 at Fire Station #1 - 110 W. 15th Street in Liberal from 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Engine #17 is a Rosenbauer Central States 1250 gpm pumper on a 2010 Freightliner chassis. The Liberal Fire Department is proud to add this vehicle to the fleet of firefighting apparatus to serve for many years as a part of the departments community's fire protection efforts. They hope you will join them for a brief "traditional" christening ceremony and opportunity to tour the vehicle up close and in person.

The intent is to give an introduction of the vehicle's features and capabilities, allow opportunities for photos & remarks from city officials and to christen the "new" pumper by wetting it down with water from the "old" pumper being transferred to reserve status. The city welcomes anyone interested to attend and observe the ceremony.
