Saints Hammer Hutch
12/03/2009

So that's why the Sporting New ranked the Saints number five in the

country. The Saints played their best basketball of the season in the

second half of Wednesday's 73-52 win over #8 Hutchinson in front

of a frenzied Green House crowd. Seward point guard Tony Smith

says it was great to be home. "We love playing back in the Green

House," Smith said after scoring 17 points and dishing six assists.

"It's a positive environment and we feed off of it." Donte McCarter

added 17 while Marky Nolen scored 14 and grabbed 11 rebounds

and Latiq Agard dropped in 13 points. The Saints trailed the

Blue Dragons (9-1, 0-1) 27-26 at halftime but outscored Steve Eck's

team 47-25 in the second half. The Saints forced 33 turnover and

committed only 12. SCCC head coach Bryan Zollinger says his

boys turned things around after two losses in Texas. "I'm proud of

them because we've been struggling with some things," Zollinger

said. "We didn't play well in the first half so for them to come back

they showed some perserverance." The 7-3 Saints go to Great Bend

to play the defending Jayhawk West champs Saturday night at 8 PM

on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
