A Mexican national has been indicted on charges of transporting 16 illegal immigrants from several Latin American countries.
The eight-count indictment made public Thursday charges Joni Rivera-Rodriguez with transporting 16 illegal immigrants who were citizens of Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
Seven of his passengers are charged with illegally re-entering the U.S. after deportation.
The arrests came last month after a Scott City police officer saw a van with Texas plates and several people at a motel in Scott City.
A police affidavit says one of the men told police the passengers were being driven from Houston to Denver, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
