Lady Saints Sink 10th Ranked Western Nebraska
11/30/2009

Seward's Nadia Rosario blocked one three point attempt and the second rimmed out during the closing seconds of Seward's 62-61 win over 10th ranked Western Nebraska Saturday in Garden City. The Lady Saints are 8-0 going into their conference opener Wednesday night against Hutch. Seward struggled down the stretch in a game they led by 11 (50-39, 42-31, and 48-37). SCCC hit just 33 percent of their shots and saw Western Nebraska out rebound Seward 52-38. But the Lady Saints forced 30 turnovers. Head coach Toby Wynn says that's more like it. "I'm proud of our kids' effort," Wynn said. "We played very well in the first half. They played man to man and played man to start the second half too. They went into their 3-2 zone and we got inept on offense. It's not very often you can shoot 7-35 and scored 22 points in the second half and win a game." Kendra Spresser played her best offensive game scoring 19 points. Megan Lassley added nine points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Nadia Rosario had eight points, five rebounds, and five blocks. Rachel Barnes added eight points and 11 rebounds. Vaneza Junior dropped in 10. The Lady Cougars of Western Nebraska fall to 7-2. The Lady Saints host defending Region 6 champ and 25th ranked Hutchinson Wednesday night at 6 PM in the Green House. The game will air on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
