New Office In Haskell County Saves Truck Drivers Time And Money
11/24/2009

Semi-Truck drivers in Southwest Kansas no longer have to go to Topeka to make changes to their International Registration Permit (IRP). Haskell County is Kansas's first regional office to offer the IRP, which allows trucks to drive throughout the country.

Before the office opened, all truckers in Kansas would have to drive to Topeka. For some, that meant a seven-hour drive. However, now it can be done in a fraction of that time.

"We had one guy in the other day from Digton," says Haskell County Treasurer, Nancy Weeks. "He was glad that he could come here and not have to make that long trip to Topeka because many of them would make it in one day."

Haskell County was chosen because it is centered among the area's three largest towns: Garden City, Dodge City, and Liberal.
