Saint Great Named All Atlantic Conference
11/24/2009

Seward's all time leader in kills knocked 'em dead in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Jelena Simic is first team all conference after a stellar junior year at Florida Gulf Coast. Simic registered 364 kills which was third in the conference. She had 288 kills in Atlantic Sun play which was second best in the conference. Her head coach was impressed.“Jelena has done so many different things for us this year and she is a very deserving All-Conference selection,” said head Coach Dave Nichols. “She has had to handle a lot of passing duties, and we have used her hitting both front row and back row. She is an incredibly dynamic hitter for her size- pound for pound she has to be one of the hardest hitters in the country! She has had a lot of matches where her all around play has carried us.” The Lazarevac, Serbia native was the only player to surpass 700 kills in 2008. Last year's Jayhawk West MVP pounded home a school record 1,380 kills in two year's for coach Bert Luallen's Saints. She also had 1,004 digs which was third in school history and 138 aces which is fourth in school history.
