The Seward County Health Department would like to remind residents of the latest information regarding the H1N1 Influenza Vaccine. According to the State of Kansas Chief Epidemiologist, Charles Hunt, “Influenza activity is still being seen wide spread throughout Kansas and we expect to see an increase in the coming weeks”.
Due to limited vaccine supply, the Health Department is vaccinating only those individuals recognized as high risk by the KDHE and CDC.
These patients include
· Caregivers and siblings of children under 6 months of age
· Children 6 months to 4 years of age
· Pregnant Woman
· Children 5 to 18 years of age with underlying health conditions
Those meeting the above criteria are encouraged to come to the Health Department to receive the H1N1 Influenza Vaccine free of charge.
Hours of the clinic: Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 4:00pm
Fridays 9:00am to 11:00am
The Health Department is working with local pre-schools by providing H1N1 vaccine to their students. In the coming weeks Seward County Health Department is planning to offer the vaccine at the local elementary schools.
Please watch for notification from your child’s school for the date and time of the event.
The form needed for the vaccine may be downloaded from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment website, for English http://www.kdheks.gov/flu/download/KS_H1N1_consent_form_template.pdf.
