Luallen is Jayhawk West Coach of the Year

After an 11-1 Jayhawk West Conference championship, SCCC head volleyball coach Bert Luallen is the coach of the year. His team moved as high as 9th in the NJCAA rankings this year. They finish 26-11 after two losses at the Region 6 Tournament in Dodge City last weekend. Sophomore Diana Castrillon and freshman Sheina Fernandes are first team all KJCCC while LaKendra Sanders and Lindsey Miller make the second team. Castrillon registered 310 kills and 63 aces to lead the Saints. The Miami-Dade transfer finished third on the team ins digs with 359 and blocks with 51. Fernandes is the freshman of the year. The rookie from Porto Alegre, Brazil hit .326 to lead SCCC and led the Saints with 140 blocks. Sanders was third onf the team with 265 kills and Miller had 416 digs and 248 kills to go with a .924 passing percentage.
