Coach Julie Tucker’s thoughts:

We started off the night pretty strong with Stanton County. It was a good chance for us to build up for Ingalls. Ingalls is a tough team with a couple strong hitters. I was proud of the way we jumped on them right from the start. However, we let down our guard in set two and took a beating. The third set was a battle back and forth in which we were tied up a few times. They had three ace serves on us in the last half of the third set so that was a killer. At one point we lead 17-11. They tied it up at 21. We had an ace serve by Nayelly LaPoint which was key to earn us our 23rd point. We let them score once more before we finished it. Then we played Satanta and looked awful. After the high of beating Ingalls, I guess we thought we were done and we dropped the first set to them. Then to start the second set we missed five serves in our first eight points. Finally we decided we wanted to win and took charge, winning the second and third set. It feels great to get three wins tonight, two of which count toward our league record. Statistically, Nayelly LaPoint was our most solid player tonight. Everyone contributed, but Nayelly was key. Our setter, Tiana Couch, worked hard to get her the ball and did a good job.”

Next in action at SWH versus Syracuse, Elkhart, and Stanton Co. on Tues., Sept. 11, at Syracuse.
