09/04/2012

Lt. Tyson Rice, of the Liberal Fire Department reported that their 2012 “Fill the Boot” campaign in Liberal netted $3,010.94 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This weekend Liberal firefighters joined thousands of other firefighters across the nation in trying to “Fill the Boot” for MDA. Fire Chief Kelly Kirk stated the Department would like to thank the public and the community for their generosity & support, and also extend a thank you to Wal- Mart for allowing them to use their storefront as the location for the firefighters to “Fill the Boot”. It was a very successful year with almost 50% more donations than 2011. All proceeds were sent to MDA Tuesday morning to fund their camps and family support activities in Seward County.
