The birthplace of Amelia Earhart is hoping
a movie opening Friday about the aviator will renew interest in her
To help that effort, makers of the new movie, "Amelia," have
donated costumes and other mementos to the Amelia Earhart
Birthplace Museum. The items will go on display Friday.
Earhart was born in Atchison on July 24, 1897.
The Kansas City Star reports that the gifts presented to last
Friday to the owners of the museum include a brown leather bomber
jacket, a white jumpsuit, and a red blouse and ivory slacks that
star Hillary Swank wore in the movie.
The costumes and props will join other Earhart memorabilia
already displayed at the museum, which officials say attracts
20,000 to 30,000 visitors a year.
