WAC Volleyball Streak Ends

After three straight WAC titles, Liberal went 2-2 and finishes in fourth place after tie breakers Saturday at the WAC Tournament in Garden City.

1st Place: Dodge City (4-0)

2nd Place: 3 way tie with Garden City (2-2), Great Bend (2-2), & Liberal (2-2). Since it is a 3 way tie the placing was determined as follows:

Tournament competition tiebreakers will follow KSHSAA rules:

1. If two teams tie, the team defeating the other in play will be the winner.

2. If three or more teams tie, the tie will be broken by adding the number of defensive points allowed in all games and divided by the total number of games played. The team allowing the fewest defensive points will determine the first-place team, the next fewest defensive points will be the second place team, etc.

2nd Place: Great Bend: v. DC 23-25, 18-25 (50), v. Hays 25-19, 25-18 (37), v. Liberal 22-25, 25-14, 13-25 (64), v. Garden City 25-18, 15-25, 25-19 (62)

213 points allowed/10 sets played = 21.30

3rd Place: Garden City: v. DC 17-25, 23-25 (50), v. Hays 22-25, 25-14, 25-19 (58), v. Liberal 20-25, 25-21, 25-19 (65), v. Great Bend 18-25, 25-15, 19-25 (65)

238 points allowed/11 sets played = 21.64

4th Place: Liberal: v. DC 26-28, 24-26 (54), v. Hays 22-25, 25-18, 33-31 (74), v. Great Bend 25-22, 14-25, 25-13 (60), v. Garden City (25-20, 21-25, 19-25 (70)

258 points allowed/11 sets played = 23.45

5th Place: Hays (0-4)

Here are latest standings. KMC is now 4th seed. If they split tomorrow night, they stay 4th seed. They play Heights and West.
