Seward head women's basketball coach Toby Wynn and point guard Ricquia Jones travel to Florida for an all star game of their own this weekend. The NJCAA recently named Wynn the President of the NJCAA's WBCA. The WBCA All Star games are this weekend in Niceville, Florida and Wynn is the man in charge. Jones was elected to play in the games this weekend.
Wynn had been the vice president of the NJCAA's WBCA. The Booker native enters his eighth season as Seward head coach and is 187-46.
Wynn has emerged as one of the top young coaches in junior college women’s basketball. Last summer the Lady Saints head man was asked to participate with Team USA Women's Basketball during their 18-U Nation-al Team tryout camp. In 2006-07, Wynn guided the Seward County women’s basketball program to their second most wins in school history (36). Wynn’s accomplishments as Head Coach was recognized with him being named Jayhawk West Conference Coach of the Year, NJCAA District F Coach of the Year, Kansas Basketball Coaches Association JUCO Women’s Coach of the Year and he was a finalist for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Associ-ation Region 5 Coach of the Year award.
Jones is a 5'1" guard from Chicago. She averaged eight points per game for the 23-8 Lady Saints. She led Seward with 132 assists. She will play in one game Saturday and one game Sunday in Florida.
