Bee Jays Fire Blanks in Dodge City

After scoring 33 runs in 14 innings Monday and Tuesday against the Denver Bombers, the Liberal Bee Jays mustered two hits in a 4-0 loss to the Dodge City A's Wednesday night at Cavalier Field in Dodge City.  The wind was blowing in at up to 25 miles per hour. 

Dodge City's Paul Smith tossed a complete game shutout. 

The Bee Jays had early scoring opportunities placing runners on first and second with no outs in the second and runners on first and second with one out in the third. 

Dodge City scored three runs on four singles in the third and added one in the fifth.

Dalton Bernardi (1-1) pitched five innings before Grayson's Ray Ashford pitched three scoreless innings. 

Dodge City is 6-5 in the Jayhawk and 8-6 overall while Liberal's seven game winning streak ends and so does their five game Jayhawk League winning streak.  Liberal remains in first at 8-4 and 12-4 overall. 

Liberal has Thursday off before a three game series at El Dorado Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7 p.m. on Talkradio 1270.

Last night  Derby beat Haysville 6-4.
