Crabaugh Holds Down Derby
06/16/2012

Liberal's Cody Crabaugh was feeling good Saturday night.  So good that when manager Brandon Kitch came to take him out of the game in the eighth, he didn't want to come out.  Crabaugh went the deepest of any BJ starter this season as Liberal defeated Derby 6-4 Saturday night at Brent Gould Field in front of a big home crowd.

Crabaugh, the 6'5" right hander from OCU, struck out seven and walked two in allowing two runs.  Tennessee Martin's Trevor Lundgrin pitched hte eighth and UTA's Chad Nack worked a scoreless ninth for his first save.

The Twins scored first in the third.  Liberal scored two in the fifth when Wichita State Tyler Baker laced a two RBI single to right to score OCU's Dalton Bernardi and UTA's Derek Miller.  Liberal scored two more in the sixth when Miller hit a laser to left which was dropped for a two run error.  Liberal scored twice in the seventh after Baker doubled and scored on an RBI single from Louisiana Tech's Stephen Gandy and an RBI single from OCU's Johnathan Sigado.

Derby rallied with three in the eighth to make it 6-4.

Liberal is 9-3 overall and 7-3 in the Jayhawk.  Derby falls to 4-9 overall and 4-7 in the Jayhawk.

Liberal hosts Derby Sunday night at 7 p.m. on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.  First National Bank isz the buyout sponsor.
