Counselors Open Doors for Students at McDermott After Student's Death
06/02/2012

Liberal is  grieving.  Shock and heartache is everywhere after a nine year old boy lost his life Friday night when a truck struck and killed a boy  Friday evening.  The pain is especially confusing for young and tender minds who went to school with Caleb Garcia just last week.  So McDermott Elementary counselers will be on hand Monday at 1:30 p.m. for students who need a helping hand during a trying time.

Nine year old Caleb Garcia of Liberal lost his life after riding his bicycle in front of a Peterbuilt Tractor at about 6 p.m. Friday night.  Garcia was riding the bicycle south on New York, approaching Highway 54.  A semi was headed west on 54.  Garcia failed to yield and was run over by the semi.

Garcia just finished 3rd grade last Tuesday at McDermott.
