Liberal Messes with Texas

Liberal juniors Katie Burnett, Caitlin Bauer, and Ashlyn Westerman.

The Liberal volleyball team has never won the Nocona Tournament. They took third in the top gold bracket in 2006 and won the secondary silver bracket in 2007. In 2009, so far, so good. Liberal is 3-0 at the tournament after beating S and S (25-15, 25-21), Bowie (23-25, 25-21, 25-23), and Ponder (25-15, 25-10). Katie Burnett had 26 kills, three blocks, and six aces. Caitlin Bauer added 29 assists, nine kills, and three aces. Ashlyn Westerman assisted 31 times while adding 17 kills and four aces. Destiny Hall had six aces and 15 kills. Liberal is 6-1 and the one seed for the 16 team bracket which begins Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.
