LHS Girls Tennis and Golf Teams Open Today

The sports season begins today at Liberal High School. The Liberal girls tennis team hosts the Liberal Invitaional today while the girls golf team goes to Sublette.

Brett Irby begins his second year coaching girls tennis. Junior Susan Nguyen holds the number one singles spot while senior Caitlin Workman works at number two singles. Senior Valerie Rito and senior Kelsi Moree are the number one doubles team. Junior Alyssa Canfield and sophomore Kathy Nguyen are the number two doubles team. Susan Nguyen, Workman, Rito, and Canfield return with varsity experience. The tournament begins today at 3:00 PM with the singles matches at 5th and Grant while the doubles matches will be at the Rowley Tennis Courts at Bluebonnet Park. Garden City, Scott City, and Ashland will compete with Liberal in the tournament.

Liberal's girls golf team opens at Sublette today. There are seven girls out for golf under coach Kody Thexton. The varsity consists of junior Megan Campbell, junior Kaela Krueger, senior Emily Jackson, and freshman Evan Sumner.
