A Wisconsin man charged with negligent homicide for causing the death of a Guymon man in 2007 has been taken into custody then released on bond.
According to a story in the Guymon Daily Herald, Eric J. Carrell, 29 of Union Grove, Wis. was originally charged with the count of negligent homicide by a motor vehicle on September 2, 2008 but his name was incorrectly listed and misspelled. An alias warrant was issued with Carrell's name corrected on July 23, 2009. His bond was endorsed at $25,000.
Carrell was arrested on Monday, July 27, 2009, and later released on bond. His next court appearance is September 21, 2009, where he will face further arraignment.
Carrell's charge stems from an incident that occurred on August 25, 2007. It was then that Carrell allegedly caused the death of Arthur E. Phillips. Carrell was driving a Cadillac Deville left of center in a manner not reasonable and proper after recently smoked marijuana. The accident occurred on Highway 54 and County Road Mile 54, east of Tyrone.
Negligent homicide is a misdemeanor that is punishable by a fine of not less than $100 to not more than $1000 or imprisonment for up to one year, or both.
