Nearly 200 lbs of Marijuna Confiscated After Traffic Stop

KSCB News - September 21, 2009 12:00 am

Two alleged drug traffickers were arrested Sept. 14 for three different felony charges after nearly 200 pounds of marijuana were found in their vehicle.

According to a report in the Guymon Daily Herald, Charles Meade and Edreonna Hampton, were arrested for trafficking an illegal drug within 200 feet of a school or park, conspiracy to commit trafficking of an illegal drug within 200 feet of a school or park and possession of CDS without a tax stamp.

According to the Texas County Court Clerk’s Office, at approximately 12:10 p.m. on September 14, Hampton, who was driving a 2009 Chevy Impala, and Meade, who was the passenger in the vehicle, were stopped for a lane violation. After the completion of the traffic stop, the agent making the stop asked Hampton and Meade for consent to search the vehicle. Consent was given by both individuals.

The agent making the stop utilized his K-9 dog to search the vehicle, where a positive alert for the presence of illegal narcotics was made. Once the alert was made, the agent making the stop began searching the vehicle.

Six large bundles of green leafy substances wrapped in saran wrap type packaging were located in the trunk. At this time, Hampton and Meade were both placed into custody.

A field test was done on the substance and yielded a positive response for marijuana. The amount of marijuana totaled approximately 181 pounds.
