Matthews Reigns Supreme at The 2012 Country Showdown

25 contestants competed Friday evening at the Liberal High School Auditorium for over $4,600.00 in cash and prizes and the opportunity to be one of three opening acts for 4 time Grammy nominated Jamie O’Neal set for Saturday night. A crowd of over 800 people enjoyed over 2 hours of entertainment before the winners were announced. Taking top honors on the night was Forgan native Sydney Matthews. Matthews wowed the crowd and won over the judges to be declared the 2012 LHS Booster Club Country Showdown Champion. In second place was 4 time contestant, Matt Holley from Hugoton while Katelynn Draper of Hooker OK took third. The Jamie O’Neal Concert will take place at the Liberal High School Auditorium and tickets are still available at the Crazy House until 4:00pm and also at the door. Ticket price is just $10. Showdown Weekend is brought to you in part by several local sponsors and 102.7 The Legend with the proceeds from both nights going to the Liberal High School Booster Club.
