Seward County Community College invites local businesses and organizations to join its “Welcome Day” campus and community fair set for Monday, Aug. 20. The free event provides an opportunity to greet incoming and returning Saints who become part of the wider community during the academic year.

“A lot of our students come to campus from Liberal or the surrounding area, but we also have students from other states and as many as 20 other countries,” said SCCC Student Life Director Wade Lyon. “Once they become part of the college, they are also a part of the local community, and that benefits them as well as the longtime Liberal residents.”

At the campus/community fair, participating groups can set up a table in the Greenhouse gymnasium and enjoy a free meal along with all SCCC students. Businesses may also conduct drawings or other promotions for students.

“We know that on campus, students who get involved just do better in their academics and their life overall,” said Lyon. “This just takes it one step further.”

Setup begins at 5 p.m. Aug. 20, with the fair running from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

To reserve your table, please contact Lyon by Friday, Aug. 17. Registration forms can be mailed to 1801 N. Kansas Ave., Liberal, KS  67901, or emailed to [email protected]. For more information, call 620-417-1064.
