Liberal’s Riggs Wins MIAA’s Weekly Award

September 25, 2012- Emporia State’s Morgan Riggs was named the MIAA Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week in a vote of league communication professionals.

Riggs placed third to lead the Hornet men to the team championship at the Tabor Invitational. He ran a 26:35.53 over the 8K course as four Hornets placed in the top ten and all five scorers were in the top 11 overall. The sophomore is from Liberal, Kan. where he ran for Liberal High School.

The Hornets host the ESU Invitational on Friday, September 28 in Jones Park. The only home cross country event of the season is set to start at 5 p.m.
