Liberal City Commission Meets Recognizes Employees, And Promotions

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 5:30 and recognized employee service awards along with promotions in the Police Department.

Recognized for 10 years of service to the City of Liberal were: Albert Gallegos III, Traci Holbert, Andrew Lovato, Mario Munoz-Diaz, Jeffrey Parsons, and Stanley Volden.

25 year Service Awards went to: Sandra Armstrong, and Kelly Kirk.

The Liberal Police Department recently promoted the following Officers:  John McCord to Captain of the Patrol Division, Jeff Wade to Lieutenant of the Investigations Division, Chris Head to Sergeant in the Patrol Division, and Josiah Smiddy to Corporal in the Patrol Division.

The Commission then moved on to action items on the agenda, and approved the 2016 Standard Traffic Ordinances and Public Offense Codes. Approved the 2017 Economic Development and Housing Programs, approved the purchases of  computers for Communications and Mobile Data Terminal replacement and DEMM System replacement with Eyewitness Data Vault for the Police Department and approved the purchase of American and Welcome flags for Kansas Avenue.

 

Commissioners also adopted Resolution 22553 which sets the date and time of January 24, 2017 at 5:30pm for a Public Hearing on an the creation of a Rural Housing Incentive District in the Country Club Acres portion of the City, and approved  Seward County’s adopted Resolution 2016-16 which issues IRB’s for Hibbs Transport, Inc.

The City Commission approved the purchase of a boiler for the Waste Water Treatment, and also authorized the Execution  of a First amendment to the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Liberal and USD 480. This amendment is in regards to the remittance of the Educational Sales Tax to the District, subject to the approval of the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.

The next meeting of he Liberal City Commission is scheduled for December 27th.
