Liberal City Commission Meets, Approves Retail Strategies LLC Contract

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for their regulalry scheduled meeting. The meeting started off with a Proclamation that proclaimed the Week of September 7th, 2014 as Direct Support Professionals Week. Several staff and a client of Mosaic were on hand to receive the Proclamation.

The commission also heard from citizens regarding the clean up of properties throughout the City.

In action items, the Commission denied a request, at the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, to rezone a parcel of property fromR-3 residential to a Travel Trailer Park. According to The Planning and Zoning Board, the property in question did not meet several criteria for a rezone.

Commissioners approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Mid-America Air Museum and USD 480 for the Robotics Program,and also approved renovations to the Mid America Air Museums Theater.

The Commission approved entering into a contract with Retail Strategies LLC for assistance with retail recruitment for the City of Liberal. Retail Strategies LLC brings a team of 25 employees to the recruitment process for Liberal, contract cost is $50,000.00.

The City Commission also approved the development of a road in the Industrial Park with the money to be recouped with the sale of the lots, and appointed Mayor Denoyer, Vice-Mayor Aragon, and City Finance Director Chris Ford, as voting delegates the the Annual Conference of the League of Kansas Municipalities.

The next meeting of the Liberal City Commission will be Wednesday evening, September 10,at 5:30pm
