Liberal City Commission Meets

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday night for their regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30pm in the City Commission Chambers. Among the items on the agenda, the commission procalimed a Child Nutrition Employee Appreciation Week. Connie Vogts, Director Of Food Services for USD 480 accepted the Proclamation. Commissioners also adopted new plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas fire, and life safety codes for the city. The City Commission also approved the purchase of a scissor lift, which will be shared by various department throughout the city, but will be housed at the Mid-America Air Museum. Cost of the scissor lift was $6,649.49. Randy Scantlin was appointed to a second term on the Liberal Memorial Library Board, and Jeff Parsons, Economic Development Director for the City of Liberal, informed the Commission that the City had been awarded a $25,000.00 Grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce in the Community Capacity Building Program. The Commission also approved $87,611.65 in change orders in the Western Avenue Project. The Liberal City Commission will have a special meeting at 5:30pm on Thursday, April 29th, with the next regular meeting scheduled for May 11th.
