Liberal City Commission Holds Regular Meeting

The Liberal City Commission met last night at 6:30pm for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda, the Commission declared March as Intellectual & Development Disabilities Awareness Month. The Commission heard and update on Highway 54 and KDOT Funding from Jack Taylor of SPIRIT, and also heard from Kay Burtzloff, Sarah Foreman, and Police Chief Al Sill on a grant they are currently pursuing.

The Commission approved the 1st National Bank of Liberal as the Leasing Company for the Water System Improvement Project, and Authorized the Lease Purchase Financing. Also approved was Resolution 2150 which outlines the Tax-Exempt Compliance Procedure.

The Commissioners appointed Jody Holt to the Liberal Memorial Library Board, and Milt Seigrist, Sherry Ferrell, and Leonard McDonald to the Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Appeals.

In the matter of the Street Seal Bid Award, B&H Paving of Scott City was the low bidder at $1.33/sq yard, not to exceed $350,000. Due to a lobbying trip to Washington D.C., the next Liberal City Commission meeting will be held on Wednesday March, 28th.
