LHS Graduation Scheduled for Saturday Morning

KSCB News - May 15, 2015 6:00 am

Liberal High School will hold graduation ceremonies for the LHS Class of 2015 at 9:30 A.M.

Saturday, May 16th at Redskin Field. Seating will be on a “first come, first served basis” with gates

opening at 8:30 A.M. In case of inclement weather, school officials will make a decision by 7:00

A.M. the day of the commencement to move the ceremony indoors. In the event graduation is

moved indoors, tickets will be required for admittance into the gymnasium. The tickets will be

distributed to each graduating senior, and it will be their responsibility to distribute them to

whomever they want to attend the ceremony in the gym.

Regardless of whether the ceremony is held outdoors or inside, spectators will have the option to

view the ceremonies on the large screen projection in the air-conditioned James Maskus Auditorium

across the hall from the gym. The ceremony will also be broadcast over cable channel 16 for those

to view from any location with cable access.

School officials stress that graduation exercises are a formal celebration of the milestone that the

students have reached and ask that audience members conduct themselves with the dignity that the

ceremony deserves. No air horns or other artificial noise makers are allowed. No one will be

allowed inside the fenced area of Redskin Field other than graduates and authorized personnel.

At the conclusion of the ceremony everyone is asked to remain in place until the graduates have

left the stadium. Graduates will go to the cafeteria to receive their official diplomas. After doing

that, they will be able to visit with family and friends outside of the cafeteria.

Buddy Buchanon is the valedictorian and Kathy Hernandez is saludatorian.
