LHS Girls Top Mulvane in Wichita

KSCB News - May 9, 2016 6:37 am

The LHS girls soccer team has seven wins. That is the second time that has happened in program history with the other time being 2008. That’s after Liberal’s 2-1 over Mulvane at the Wichita North Cup on Saturday. Giselle Melendez scored in the first half with a breakaway assist from Johaly Portillo. In the second half, Mulvane capitalized on a miscommunication by the goalkeeper and defense for a goal. Carolina Limon got a breakaway goal after an assist from Mary Nunez. LHS led shots on goal 11-5 and Reyna Gonzalez had four saves. Liberal is 7-7 and plays at Garden City on Tuesday before their final home game Thursday against Dodge City.
