 STEM Program Specialist-Food Science and Safety

STEM Grant

 

Responsibilities

Position duties include developing curriculum; piloting, evaluating, and revising courses; and teaching in Food Science and Safety.  Will also develop practicum/internship agreements with area employers. This position will abide by the guidelines, conditions, policies and procedures set by the Title III, STEM grant and the College.  Employment is based on 215 days per grant year.  Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.

 

This program is principally funded through a five-year (October 2011 – September 2016) U.S. Department of Education Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program.  Upon the conclusion of grant funding for the full grant period, it is the intention of the college to retain the position.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required with 24 hours in Food Science or related field; Master's degree with 18 hours in discipline preferred. Evidence of thorough and accurate knowledge of discipline required. Requires a minimum of three (3) years for each of the following:   professional work experience, university research, and/or a combination of research and related work experience; teaching experience, community college; and of curriculum development experience.
