 Automotive Business Management Instructor

Seward County Community College/Area Technical School is currently seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to instruct classes in the Automotive Business Management Program.  The program is designed to instruct students in Auto Parts, Warehousing and Business Management.   This program prepares students for auto service careers including parts counter, assistant parts manager, parts manager, warehouse manager, retail sales and inventory management in businesses such as automotive repair facilities, car dealerships, automotive custom and specialty shops, collision repair facilities, heavy duty truck repair facilities, warehouses, etc.  Related courses may be taught depending on education and experience.  The typical teaching load is 30 credit hours per academic semester. 

 

Role: Responsibilities include preparation, teaching and conducting laboratory courses as assigned including but not limited to development of syllabi; facilitating student learning in classroom and lab settings, recruiting, advising, tutoring and evaluating students.  Teaching assignments may include some evenings.

 

Qualifications:  A minimum of two to five years full time employment in discipline specific or related area is required.  Bachelor’s Degree in career and technical education or related field with 18 credit hours in business management preferred.

            People development and instructional skills and abilities

            Problem solving and multi-tasking skills, can adapt to a change fast-paced environment

            Motivated and professional, with a positive attitude

            Technical expertise

Abilities:

            Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for very short periods of time

            Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, learn and reason for all of the work day

            Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time

Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time

Must be able to learn and use Banner System (integrated database system)

Must be able to see details at a close range

 

Work environment

            Work is performed primarily indoors often in climate controlled environment

           

Applicant must be eligible to work in the U.S. without Visa sponsorship.

 

Successful applicant will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to employment.

Position Status:  Full-time position, 190 days

Start Date:  August 5, 2013
