Lead Admit Clerk
Full Time • 80 hrs/pp • 6:00am – 2:30pm • Plus Weekends and On Call
High school diploma or equivalent required. One to two years of experience in hospital or physician office setting. Typing 30 wpm or more. 10 Key-required. Must have good verbal and written communication skills to provide and obtain appropriate information. Ability to handle detailed work and fast paced environment. Admit Clerk is responsible for the performance of various duties that are intended to result in proper payments to the hospital for services provided to patients. Individuals will conduct themselves in a manner that will project both professionalism and caring to all people. Job duties will be performed to assist not only the patient but personnel in other hospital departments, physicians and their office staff members. Duties include customer service, verification of insurance, collection of deductibles and co-payments from patients or guarantors. The admit clerk is also responsible for welcoming patient(s) and visitors as they arrive and include dealing directly with patients and the public either by telephone, electronically or face to face. Admit Clerks will rotate covering the front desk outpatient area while responding promptly to patient inquiries and direct all requests and unresolved patient/customer complaints/issues to the appropriate personnel. Obtain and evaluate all relevant information to handle inquiries and complaints. Record details of inquiries, comments and complaints and if necessary record details of action taken and turn documentation into the appropriate personnel. Other duties may include processing inpatient and outpatient pre-admission registrations and work closely with the physician staff, and any special projects. Assists with the training of other employees within the department and in Patient Accounts as needed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is a logical assignment for the position.
