Landfill – Mechanic
The position is located in Liberal, KS.
The employee in this position analyzes the cause of equipment breakdowns to ensure prompt attention to maintenance and repair needs. Schedules and directs work, maintenance, and repair periods for facilities and equipment; handles and documents internal customer complaints regarding mechanical operations; performs preventive maintenance and inspection processes for wear on a wide variety of basic and complex equipment including heavy construction equipment, refuse collection equipment, and other equipment; checks various gear boxes and fills as required, cleans batteries and cables, checks for leaks in coolant, oil, air, lube oils and hydraulic fluids and for wear and cracks on frames and rails, removes and replaces minor and major components on construction equipment, rebuilds pumps and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment, performs metal fabrication and makes repairs with welding tools, makes adjustments to rollers, sprockets, tracks, brakes, belts, hydraulic linkage, throttle and selector levels, and blade control cables on construction equipment, performs overhauls, repairs and adjustments on engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, carburetors, generators, distributors, and various types of pumps, inspects, adjusts, and installs various other parts on vehicles in the shop; may assist with maintenance of refuse collection bins and containers.
High School Diploma or GED required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing maintenance and repair on large and small equipment. Relevant hardware and software related to the diagnoses and repair of heavy and light equipment, electrical and HVAC systems.
Must have or be able to obtain a Class A, CDL License without a record of suspension or revocation in any state; no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.
